Most centre on not following our dreams. But how about instead of “what if” we asked “what now” and began to follow our dreams, leaving our regret in our wake?
Innovation, start-ups and dream chasing may, on the surface, seem like a game for the young. Tech and innovation icons such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg launched Microsoft and Facebook at ages 20 and 19 respectively. However, there are also several success stories who got started much later in life.
Here are some examples of mature trailblazers who refused to ask “what if” and instead followed their dreams:
The legendary Kawasaki Shozo, who launched the Kawasaki business at the age of 59. It has grown immensely over time.
Also Ferdinand Porsche, of luxury car giant Porsche, launched his company at age 56 and is now one of the most prestigious automobile companies in the world.
Perhaps business isn’t your thing. Maybe something artistic is more in your field.
Well, it's hard to forget Susan Boyle’s rise to stardom when following her dream by auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent.
From August 2006 to February 2014, 86-year-old Peter Oakley had a major following on YouTube - at one time being the most subscribed creator on the whole website.
So whatever it is, if you’re passionate about it, you should chase it!
Write a book, make a video, learn an instrument ... whatever it is you dream of doing, why not give it a shot?
After all, as the famous quote goes: “I’d rather a life full of ‘oh wells’ than ‘what ifs’”
