Kefir is a strong anti-inflammatory ingredient that aids in fighting nasty diseases such as salmonella, e coli and more. There is also indication that this cultured ingredient may play a significant role in preventing more serious ailments.
A kefir smoothie recipe to get your juices flowing
About The Fermentary
We want to make our real, slow food SO delicious that people everywhere will be able to access this or make it themselves and want to eat it every day. For good guts we produce authentic, slow fermented vegetables, kefirs, mustards, miso and kvass.
This recipe provides all of kefir's health benefits in one delicious glass.
Ingredients
For 750ml of milk kefir (you can brew your own with this kit)
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of turmeric (or a golden powder for those lattes popular at the moment)
a glug/2 tablespoons of maple syrup or other sweetener
1 teaspoon of vanilla paste
Method
I prefer to blend mine in a shaker, because it seems to get it fizzier than in a blender. But beware the shaker, because this can get quite explosive some days, so go easy and open the lid carefully. It's probably safer to use the blender, in the case of explosive versus neat and safe.
Alternatively, don't follow my amounts and just pop in the amount you'd like.
Cinnamon is very healthy if you buy the good stuff, so lots of that, less turmeric, much less vanilla and a dash of maple.
Use the best quality of these, because you've gone to the trouble of making or buying best quality milk kefir. You can shake it up in a shaker or stir it in.
Once you've made this, it'll actually last a few days in the fridge. Pour over your grains or put some on top like we did above. So yummy.
