When that time does come, or if you’re all about that proactive lifestyle, here are some of the best exercises for a strong, healthy ticker.
Jogging or a brisk walk
Improving your overall fitness level with regular jogging or fast walking is an important way to take care of your heart. Jogging is shown to lower blood pressure and improve your ability to deliver oxygen to your muscles.
Bike riding
A great aerobic exercise to optimise heart health, bike riding will get those legs pumping and that heart thumping.
Swimming
Easy on the joints and one of the best aerobic exercises of the bunch. Need I say more?
Dancing
Exercise doesn’t have to be dull! There are so many dance-inspired classes at your local gym that cater to all levels of experience. Plus, any get together with friends is a perfect opportunity for a spontaneous dance party.
Stair climbs
A personal favourite, stair climbs will have your heart rate up in no time at all. Find a flight of stairs at the local park to use during your daily jog to help strengthen that heart.
Water aerobics
Get your workout without putting strain on those joints and bones. Just like swimming, this is a great aerobic option to get the heart rate up for those suffering from arthritis - and can even help to improve joints.
Interval training
Short bursts of high-intensity exercise are one of the best ways to lose weight, up your fitness levels, and prevent heart disease and diabetes.
Weight training
A similar concept to interval training, your heart rate will elevate and lower in between sets. Building muscle strength is an invaluable way to release strain on the heart.
