Both of these demonstrate that despite misconceptions, the predominantly young YouTube audience is interested in content involving more experienced people in life.
It doesn't seem to matter whether it is informative content, as seen with Peter Oakley’s videos, or more humorous entertainment such as the marijuana video.
Another popular series is called ‘Elders React’, produced by the Fine Bros Entertainment channel, which is dedicated to having older people react on camera to more youthful trends, memes, music and television shows.
While it perhaps exploits the seniors' lack of modern cultural knowledge for comedic and financial purposes, it too demonstrates that there is a large audience out there for over-50s who want to share their interesting stories and perspective with the world.
YouTube proves that people are interested in hearing mature voices and words of wisdom, but many people out there are camera shy.
It's why YsPeople is emerging the best platform for over-50s to get their message across in Australia -and it should be made the most of.
It is a perfect alternative for those who are camera shy, to get their opinions heard, while enjoying all the benefits of a respectful, engaged community.
