A fortnight ago, I was invited to Ku De Ta Perth for lunch. My response was: "where?"'
Ku De Ta Perth is worth the visit
About Fussy
Like most people, I love eating and drinking. But I hate the bullshit most reviewers offer as standard fare.
I had never heard of it.
Then I was told that it is at Frasers Point. I am obviously out of touch, because I had not heard of it, either.
Notwithstanding this abject lack of knowledge, I found my way to the restaurant with the help of Google. Having located it, I was amazed at just how many times I had driven past it and the other restaurants in the complex without even noting they were there.

I hope others are more switched on to its existence, because it is worth knowing about.
I went with two colleagues, one of whom ordered fish and the other, steak. I asked the waitress about the vegetarian options, with which she suggested that I try a mix-and-match on the side dishes, given that the vegetarian options were very limited.
In my response to being treated, as I suggested, as a second-class citizen because I was vegetarian, the waitress responded with: ''Well, we are a steak and fish bar!''.
Clearly my colleagues had found the right venue, but I was not sure I had.
I decided to try the artichoke risotto and we organised an assortment of three side vegetables to share.
My colleagues raved about the quality of their dishes and I would have to say that what the vegetarian dishes lacked in options, my dish more than made up for in quality. It was both unusual and sensational. The side dishes were also excellent. This was unique and fantastic food, well presented and very well received by all.
My colleagues said that the wine list was good and thoroughly enjoyed their selection
The environment, while not offering views of the river from the ground floor where we sat, was warm and inviting. I am told that it would not have cost nearly the amount boasted by the owners in the media, but it is good.
Using a 1-5 scale, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, my rating of Ku De Ta is as follows:
Other than my concern about the lack of vegetarian options, more than made up for in quality, I would draw attention to just three issues:
The most amazing aspect of the experience was the size of the venue, with three or more separate areas. How they will ever fill the place is beyond me. The size of Ku De Ta suggests to me that the owners are very optimistic. I really hope that they are not paying too much per square metre.
I would find it difficult to rationalise a venue of that size at that location and without sufficient promotion to ensure that someone who eats out more than once a week (me) has heard of it
Good luck to them. It was a good experience with good company.
