Christie - who had a fascination with pole sports at the time - found the International Pole Sports Federation on Google, started practicing, ended up competing in Japan and then at the recent world championships in London.
She won first place.
Since her proudest moment was standing up on the dais after her world title win to the strains of the Australian national anthem, Christie now wants pole sports included as an Olympic event.

"If I thought I was sexy doing pole, I don't think I'd be doing it.
''There's a big difference between pole sports and pole dance. Pole dance is more as the entertainment value, where as pole sport is gymnastics.
''Once it's accepted at the Olympics I think people will really start to look at it.
