Five mindblowing photos of nature's beauty

We live in a weird, crazy and astonishing world, one that is worth looking after.
The internet is filled with some of the coollest photos and videos of our world -- and the creatures who live here with us.
With this in mind, here are my top five wildlife photos from the internet this past week.
1.) This elk at Olympic National Park in Colorado
Also known as the wapiti (Cervus canadensis), the term "elk" often causes confusion between continents -- in Europe it refers to what Americans call a moose (Alces alces). This photo was taken and uploaded by Reddit user u/erantsingularity.
2.) This tortoise and her young son
This old african spurred tortoise and her days-old son is one of the best nature photos I've ever seen, demonstrating that familial bonds don't belong to just humans.
3.) Yosemite National Park
Yosemite may be one of the most famed national parks in the world, but it is this image that has well and truly placed it on my bucket list.
4.) This kingfisher going hunting
It's a dog-eat-dog world at times, but in this case it is a bird-eat-fish world. This is such a cool photo, showing predator and prey in action.
5.) An owl protecting its eggs
This is, without doubt, the most terrifying owl I have seen in my life!
