Five awesome nature photos from the internet

About Justin

Sharing my thoughts and opinions with you

Check out some of the Internet's best wildlife photos. Do you have your own to share? You can do that, too!

We live in a weird, crazy and astonishing world, one that is worth looking after.

The internet is filled with some of the coolest photos and videos of our world -- and the creatures who live here with us.

With this in mind, here are my top five wildlife photos from the internet this past week.

1.) Sperm whales in strange sleeping positions

Who would've thought that a mammal would sleep vertically?! This is such a bizarre photo that shows us the truly unusual sleeping position of one of the largest creatures on the planet.

2.) This Hawaiian 'day octopus'

Octopus cyanea, also known as the big blue octopus or day octopus, is from the Octopodidae family. It occurs in both the Pacific and Indian oceans, from Hawaii to the eastern coast of Africa. This beautiful image taken in Hawaii makes the octopus almost look like a painting.

3.) The maned wolf

The maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) is the largest canid of South America. Its markings resemble those of foxes, but it is not a fox, nor is it a wolf, as it is not closely related to other canids. It is the only species in the genus Chrysocyon (meaning "golden dog").

4.) Molten lava flowing into the sea

What a terrifying Star Wars-esque shot of lava flowing into the ocean. How lucky that this is not a regular occurence!

5.) 512-year-old shark

This ancient shark is speculated to be over 500 years old!
