If you haven’t heard of macrame, I’m taking it upon myself to pull you out from that rock you’ve been hiding under.
Macrame: “The art of knotting string in patterns to make decorative articles.” You’ll have seen it around lately in homeware stores, on television and in magazines, the main trend at the moment being hanging planters. You decoratively knot rope to create a hanging basket and in that basket sits a pretty pot plant.
How to: Grow fruit and veg from kitchen scraps
The video below is the easiest how-to ever. All you need is some macrame string, a pair of scissors and the actual plant pot or bowl that you want to hang up. Simple!
Add beads along the rope if you’re feeling fancy, and there are heaps of other patterns, but the method in this video is perfect for beginners.
How to: Arm-knit a chunky blanket
Hang up your masterpiece inside to bring a bit of life into the house or out on the verandah for a beautiful alternative to the everyday pot plant . A great idea is to use a clear glass or plastic bowl and cute little succulents inside, so you'll see the treasures from all views.
