Love wins: From abused orphan to protector of many

If you have a problem that our Ys community should know about, or some heartwarming news that needs to be shared, I'm listening!
Rob Scheer was born into an abusive family. As the youngest of 10 children, he and his siblings would regularly have a gun held to their tiny heads by their biological father, who would then ask menacingly: "Which kid do you want to shoot first?"'
The abuse wasn't just physical, it was sexual, too! That is, until Rob's parents died when he was 10. Then, a new set of horrors in foster care unfolded.
Homeless at 18, you'd be forgiven for expecting Rob's next path to have been one of drug addiction, crime or worse.
Well, you'd be wrong!
Rob and his husband have adopted four children - fighting in the courts for their right to do so, as gay men - and are working tirelessly to help children in foster care feel that someone, somewhere, cares about them.
And since this is one of the most inspiring stories of strength, positivity and love I've ever seen, I wanted to share it with you, our Ys community!
Please enjoy! Oh, and maybe grab a tissue!
