Environmental initiative: Adidas sold 1 million shoes made out of ocean plastic in 2017

With many modern fashion brands being pretty awful -- the use of sweatshop labour and poor environmental footprints spring to mind -- it's great to see a company the size of Adidas being so green.

It has been taking plastic from the ocean, which is harmful to marine life, and recycling it into pairs of shoes, selling over a million of them last year. That's a lot of turtles saved!

With the popularity of Adidas shoes, it is good to see so many consumers supporting such an environmentally friendly product.

Pakistan swears in 'untouchable' Hindu woman as member of Senate

Krishna Kumari is one of the so-called untouchables -- the lowest in a caste system that still prevails in Pakistan and India.

But she has risen above the prejudice that often sees the untouchables considered ''impure'' to be elected as a member of the Pakistani Senate.

Krishna Kumari took the oath this week dressed in traditional attire, representing her people with pride.

After waking, Lindsey Chisholm realised that because of the snow she couldn't drive to her hospital in Paisley nearly 13km away, where she was scheduled to operate on a colon cancer patient. So Chisholm put on her winter gear and trudged through the snow for nearly three hours to get there.

Homeless dogs sleep comfortably after US animal shelter's request for armchairs goes viral
