Coming home with kindness

About Wendy

I love the whole Ys People space. It really resonates with my wish to help people find more fulfilment in their lives. That goes for my family and friends as well as my colleagues!

As well as my big focus on my family and friends, my 3rd big focus is through my company, The Glastonbury Company, www.glastonbury.com.au. With 6 other practitioners around the world, we deliver the Resilient Leadership Program. www.resilientleadershipprogram.com. This is aimed at indivuduals and leaders striving the make our world a better place. It's based on personal mentoring.

Our home begins with what's within us.

Welcome to this Seed of Hope, created to bring kindness to your day. Thankyou so much those of you who responded to my last Seed with your lovely thoughts and stories:-)

Here is the 6th Seed, which has just been “germinated” for you:

That which we search for is looking for us, sending out a constant call, shining a beacon. If we can be still and awake, if we can find the courage to call out and listen deeply, we will find our way home.

—Oriah “Mountain Dreamer” House in The Call [A reference book for the Resilient Leadership Program]

It’s taken a long time to summon this courage that Oriah speaks of – to call out and listen deeply.

It’s as if the casing of this 6th Seed has been particularly hard and resistant to open. The story of its opening emerged in my latest blog. Now that I’ve reached this space, what am I hearing when I call out and listen deeply?

“Home” is the loudest answer.

What is this “home”?

For me, it’s being my kindest, most helpful and flourishing self, without limitation. Here, nothing is small or insignificant. Here, I am powerful beyond measure. This is the beacon to which I am drawn.

From my parents, my life’s companions and my lifetime of learning, I am blessed with skills as a writer, a coach and mentor, a businesswoman and a technologist.

While making sure that I operate from my “home”, these are my tools to work toward a kinder world around me. And this week, which began with World Kindness Day, is the perfect time to be thankful for these gifts.

As I wrote this Seed, I thought about my built home. How did it relate to my inner “home?” My built home has only become homely and welcoming when it is centred on the loving kindness of my inner “home,” so this is what I now pay attention to each and every day of my life.

It’s been a long journey home. Thankyou Oriah, for your wisdom.

If you would like to share what “home” means to you, or if you have a friend who would like to share what “home” means to them, I’d be delighted to listen. You can email me here.
